Time to Help #FlipAlabama
An important special election for an Alabama Senate seat is just around the corner. On December 12, Democrat Doug Jones will run against Republican Roy Moore.
Republican Roy Moore is the candidate who was recently accused of making sexual advances to several underage girls. Moore was also twice removed from the Alabama Supreme Court for inappropriately installing a monument of the Ten Commandments at the Alabama supreme court building and refusing to remove it.
Democrat Doug Jones is the former federal prosecutor responsible for convicting two of the Klansmen responsible for the 1963 church bombing in Birmingham that killed 4 African American girls. Although Jones is willing to debate his opponent, Moore refuses to participate in a debate (or even to be interviewed by local TV news on his positions).
Polls indicate that the two candidates are now neck and neck. There’s still time to support our Alabama progressive sisters and brothers by donating, calling, and texting. There are a number of groups providing resources for the resistance. You can sign up for phone and text banking programs, which make it easy and safe to contact voters in Alabama.
