#Harvey – 3 ways to help
Relief agencies and organizations are on the ground in Houston and coastal Texas helping rescue survivors and stabilize the situation. In the weeks and months to come, thousands of people will need assistance to rebuild their lives. If you’re looking for a way to help – we’ve identified 3 organizations through National Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster (NVOAD) who are working on Harvey relief now.
But, first – a quick video explaining why a cash donation is the most useful donation:
1. Feeding Texas
Food banks are an important asset during hurricanes, as they provide relief to families and residents who have lost access to food and water during the disaster. When a disaster is too big for one food bank to handle, such as is anticipated with Harvey, Feeding Texas steps in to coordinate with the state and other providers so that relief comes quick. Donate Now!
Since 2010, for every $10 donated Americares has provided $200 in aid. Because we deliver donated medicines and medical supplies to a trusted network of locally-based providers, the impact of your gift is multiplied many times over.
3. American Red Cross
Please help the victims of Hurricane Harvey by making your financial donation to the American Red Cross’ disaster relief services such as shelter, food, comfort, etc.
NEVER SELF DEPLOY to a disaster area.
If you aren’t able to make a financial donation and are looking to donate time instead, coordinate with your local organizations. Many are going to be training and mobilizing volunteers to help, especially as flood waters begin to subside and the longer process of rebuilding begins.
